Explore how you or your organization can serve families with your time, expertise, and in-kind gifts. When you support PREPARES, you are participating in a program that makes a difference in your community!

Get Involved

Most volunteer positions have a training that will equip you for serving families in your community. Comprehensive training is necessary to give our volunteers the confidence to meet the unique needs of individuals we come in contact with every day. We coordinate with parishes to provide trainings for volunteers. Please contact us using the link or phone numbers above to learn more. PREPARES is a parish based ministry, please also consider if you are available to help as your parish’s liaison.



FAMILY COMPANIONSHIP

Family Companions are volunteers who want to share an unconditional friendship with a parent in their parish community. A Companion Team is a group of 3‐5 volunteers who provide practical, emotional, and ministry of presence to a family.

FATHERHOOD GROUP

Fathers in a parish can start a Fatherhood support group that meets and invites Fathers in the community to come for an evening of discussion and support.



PREPARES BAGS

PREPARES Bags are filled with essentials and developmentally appropriate childhood items by volunteers. These bags would then be distributed in the community by PREPARES volunteers.



TRAVELING CRIB

The parish community places the traveling Crib in their vestibule for a month time. The Parishioners fill the crib with baby related items such as diapers, clothing, blankets, and formula, anything that could be supportive to parents in their community.

PARENT CHILD INTERACTION

Trained volunteers facilitate a play and learn group for parents and their children, ages birth to 5 years, get together on a regular basis to focus on fun activities with toddlers and parenting support.

BABY SHOWER

Hold an event that brings volunteers together to donate items for families or you invite pregnant moms and their families to attend a Baby Shower which celebrate life and provides them with a few needed supplies such as layette baskets.


PARENT GROUP

Coordination of parent support network. Parishes can coordinate meals or times for parents to come together and establish community.



PREPARES COORDINATOR/COMMITTEE

You can become a PREPARES parish coordinator/committee member who understands the PREPARES Initiative and are dedicated to organize, recruit, invite, orchestrate and create PREPARES opportunities at their parish.

PRAYER TEAMS

Commit to support PREPARES families through prayer individually or in a group setting.





CLOTHING CLOSET

Parishes provide a clothing closet that families can access at the parish.



PREPARES PROMISE FUND

Lead or support fundraising activities. Funds raised can support efforts at their parish or go directly to the Promise Fund which assists families throughout your diocese.

PREPARES EN ESPAÑOL

Implement one of the ways listed here in Spanish at your parish.
